Welcome to Books and Beans, where coffee, books, and community all come together in one cozy space. Our journey started years ago on Durham Street, and what began as a small café quickly grew into a beloved spot where people could relax, connect, and enjoy a great cup of coffee. As a woman-owned business, we’ve always been proud to support one another, celebrate creativity, and create a space that feels like home to everyone who walks through our door.
When we decided to open The Night Owl, we thought a little café pop-up would be the perfect "front" for our speakeasy-style bar. In the process, we decided to bring the name Books and Beans back. What we didn’t expect was the overwhelming love and support from our patrons. The café became so busy, and the community connection was so strong that we had to move to a larger, street-level location to keep up with the demand. Now, with more room to accommodate even more visitors, we continue to serve the same warm, welcoming vibe that has always been at the heart of everything we do.
Since then, we’ve expanded our menu with delicious new offerings like lunch, soups, sandwiches, brunches, and an even bigger selection of freshly baked goods. It’s all about giving you more ways to enjoy your time with us—whether you’re here for a hearty meal, a quiet moment with a book, or just to sip your favorite coffee.

At Books and Beans, we’ve created a space where two of life’s simplest joys come together: the comforting warmth of a good book and the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Beans, of course, are the heart of what we serve—each coffee bean carefully selected to create the perfect cup, with every sip offering comfort and inspiration.
